Adam Elliot's animated short has scooped over 50 international awards including an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film at the 2004 Academy Awards. Narrated by Geoffrey Rush, the film tells the strange, sad life of Harvie Krumpet, an ordinary man in a retirement home who throughout his impoverished life has been cursed with terrible luck: from being born with Tourette's Syndrome, to getting struck by lightning; from having a testicle removed to developing Alzheimers - his troubles seem never-ending. Yet Harvie learns some important lessons in life, finding love, freedom, nudity - and ultimately, the true meaning of what it is to be human.
