Two prison inmates, Louis (Raymond Cordy) and Emile (Henri Marchand), attempt to escape. Louis is caught and sent back to his cell while Emile becomes a successful businessman. When Louis is finally released he goes to work fo Emile, only to discover the industrial world is no better than the prison regime. This attack on the dehumanisation of industrial workers ends with the two men taking to the road and becoming tramps.
