Electronics leisure 2023 film serie: Late Spring draait om de weduwnaar Shukichi en zijn inwonende dochter Noriko. Zij doet voor haar vader het huishouden maar deze beslist dat het voor haar tijd wordt om te trouwen.

Noriko weigert echter om haar vader alleen achter te laten. Shukichi maakt haar duidelijk dat zijn leven het einde nadert terwijl het hare nog moet beginnen en dat hij bovendien gaat hertrouwen.

Na lang aarzelen geeft Noriko toe. Op de avond na de bruiloft gaat Shukichi naar een sak bar en vertelt hij een vriend dat hij helemaal niet van plan was om opnieuw te trouwen maar dat hij Noriko voor haar eigen bestwil heeft misleid.

Late Spring was binnen Yasujiro Ozu s oeuvre zijn persoonlijke favoriet en het het is niet moeilijk om te begrijpen waarom. Alle kenmerken van zijn werk zijn er in een pure vorm te vinden en het is de eerste film waarbij hij twee van zijn vaste acteurs Chishu Ryu en Setsuko Hara bijeenbrengt.
