Omschrijving:

In 1909 Oxford University Press published the Scofield(r) Reference Bible, edited by Dr. C. I. Scofield. It's no understatement to say that this first-ever study Bible, featuring scholarly notes placed beside the biblical text, took the Bible publishing world by storm. Indeed, the Scofield's success was instrumental in the establishment of Oxford's branch in the United States. Today, dozens of study Bibles are available, in translations and with notes catering to the theological viewpoints of a wide spectrum of religious traditions. First revised in 1917, a half-century later a more extensive updating of the Scofield was undertaken by a scholarly committee comprised of well-known evangelicals. These men recognized the need to address topics that did not exist in Dr. Scofield's day - such as the establishment of the modern state of Israel in 1948. At the same time they were careful not to depart from the dispensational theology that is the Scofield's hallmark. This special edition celebrates the fortieth anniversary of a resource that has drawn untold numbers of readers closer to the Word of God. Its features include the replacement of archaic words in the KJV text with their modern equivalents, thousands of marginal cross references, subject chain references, footnotes, a select KJV concordance, and much more. * Words of Christ in red letter. * Exclusive, subject based topical chain reference system. * Self-pronouncing text assists. * Subheadings for quick reference. * Select KJV Concordance. * 16 full-color New Oxford Bible Maps.
